Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Q: "Will this be really hard on my body? And is it violent?"
People who do Brazilian Jiu Jitsu are never the ones to start fights. They're the ones who do everything in their power to avoid fights. But if a fight has to happen, they are ready to defend themselves. So no, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is not violent. As far as your body goes, the exercise involved may be tough for you at first. But you're welcome to go at your own pace. This isn't the army or anything! We're here to support you and help you succeed. It may be hard, but not enough to cause injuries. It is just hard enough to form a great calorie-burning workout.
Q: "Do I have to be athletic or flexible or anything?"
Not at all! In fact, many of our students are those who didn't enjoy other sports. Many of them were not athletic before joining this class. Now they're in better shape than anyone else they know. They're lean fit and feeling great! So if you're not athletic already, don't worry, we'll help you get there.
Q: "Will I get hurt?"
Any physical activity can lead to injury, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is no exception - but because we place so much care in keeping you safe .... We hardly EVER see injuries here. We guide you through the correct way to do each technique. This way, you don't harm your body. We also show you how to stretch properly, further reducing your chances of injury. You go at your own pace, so you don't force your body to do anything it's not ready for. Students who pick up on BJJ quickly are just as valued as those who need to slow down, and learn at a different pace.

Youth Kickboxing

Q: "Will Kickboxing make my kid violent?"
No way! In fact, kickboxing makes kids calmer and more respectful than ever. Kickboxing always has been about peace, and it always will be.
Q: "My child isn't athletic. Can they still participate in Kickboxing if
they're not athletic?"
Absolutely. Kickboxing teaches kids to be coordinated, flexible and strong. Kids who don't naturally have these qualities develop them. Kids who do have these qualities grow them even more.
Q: "How old should my child be to start Kickboxing?"
Any age! Most kids range from 5 to teenagers, but we have kids who are younger, too. Classes are customized to suit children of different ages. A teenager receives very different treatment than a 6 year old, for example.
Q: "Can my child get injured with Kickboxing?"
As a parent, I'm sure you've seen that kids can get injured doing just about anything. Kickboxing is no different, however we take safety very seriously here. Yes, injuries do sometimes happen. But we do everything in our power to avoid them. We do special exercises and stretches to make your child's body limber and flexible.
Q: "Do children's confidence & self-esteem grow with Kickboxing?"
Absolutely. Kids with low self-esteem often come out of their shells. As their skill level increases, they feel more and more confident. Other kids look up to them, just as they look up to other kids who are ahead of them. It builds a sense of confidence, pride, and teamwork.
Q: "Do boys AND girls take Kickboxing?"
Yes! We have a good mix of both girls and boys in our youth kickboxing classes! Some people think that the boys are much “stronger and tougher,” but in reality this is not true. In fact, often girls are the stronger ones!
Q: "Do kids enjoy learning Kickboxing? Do they stick with it for a while?"
Kids have a blast here. There's smiling and laughter throughout every class. We have our moments of intense concentration and focus... but we always balance things out with fun and games to keep everything alive and light.

Adult Kickboxing

Q: "Is there a risk for injury with Kickboxing?"
Any sport or form of exercise comes with a risk of injury. However, there are a few things that make our program very safe. It's because of these few things that we barely see any injuries with our program.

Stretching: At the beginning of every class we go through a series of stretches. These stretches get your muscles and joints ready and warmed up for exercise.

Supervision: Every class is supervised by trained, licensed professionals. We watch carefully to make sure no student is doing anything in a dangerous or unsafe way.

In short, we place a tremendous amount of focus on fun and safety. It's because of this that we feel confident telling you that while there is risk for injury with our program - it's a very small risk.
Q: "What level of fitness is required for Kickboxing?"
People come to us of all fitness levels. We get natural-born athletes, and we get people who have a harder time with athletic endeavors. However, everyone gets the same focus and attention.

If you're not in great shape, don't worry. Go at your own pace, and we'll do everything we can to help you learn each and every technique. Soon enough, your physical fitness will improve, and you'll be in better shape than ever!
Q: “Is Kickboxing violent?”
No! Because self-defense technique is taught in Kickboxing, it's often thought of as violent. However, the philosophies behind Kickboxing revolve around peace and harmony. The moves are more of a way to become connected with your body. We teach diplomacy and friendship. However, if a violent situation ever arises in your life, you'll have powerful tools to defend yourself and your loved ones.

Cardio Kickboxing

Q: "Are both group & private classes available?"
Most of our members enjoy the group setting, but private sessions are available too, depending on instructor availability.
Q: "How many people are in a group class?"
At peak times, there's between 15-30. Some times have more, some less. But we make sure to have enough instructors to match the class size. That way you always get the attention you need.
Q: "Can you help me with nutrition, too?"
Absolutely. Whether it's in the mini nutrition seminars we give during classes from time to time... or private consultations... we've got you covered.
Q: "Are there other beginners like me"
Yes! Our classes cater to people of all experience levels, and in every class there are people all over the spectrum.
